Pretty Palettes April Reveal

Image
It is time for the Pretty Palettes April reveal.   This month Erin Prais-Hintz is inspired by a collaborative art exhibit that she is undertaking at a local co-op gallery.  The theme of this exhibit will be called "Beauty in the Broken Places."  In her search for inspiration she came upon a concert called "Wabi-Sabi."  This concept is based on impermanence of beauty, that there is beauty in the broken, the rusty and old. “Pared down to its barest essence, wabi-sabi is the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection and profundity in nature, of accepting the natural cycle of growth, decay, and death. It’s simple, slow, and uncluttered – and it reveres authenticity above all.” NobleHabor.com   You can click on this link Erin Prais-Hintz for more information regarding her collaborative art exhibit. Pretty Palettes - February Reveal

Image
Did you have a romantic Valentine's Day? This year it was all about doggie kisses for the Moore family.   We decided to rescue a 2 year old mixed breed dog named "Elvis".  He is the Valentine's gift that keeps on giving.  Below is a photo of my son Garrett with Elvis.       Erin Prais-Hintz has picked bobbin lace as our inspiration this month. Erin States that " Bobbin lace is also known as pillow lace because this method requires working with a pattern embedded in a stiff pillow with straight pins. The lacemaker weaves threads held on bobbins to the pattern that is pinned to the top of the pillow. This centuries old technique needs a firm pillow (originally filled with straw so the pins wouldn’t wobble), bobbins to hold the thread and weight them down, straight pins, thread and a pattern".  Click here for the "Pretty Palettes" inspiration blog post. This month I was inspired by this amazing filigree bead cap that reminded me o...

Pretty Palettes January Reveal

Pretty Palettes January Reveal It is time for the 'Pretty Palettes" January 2016 reveal!  Erin Prais-Hintz has picked contemporary Russian photographer named Alexey Kljatov . (These are his images that you see here) as our inspiration for the December blog hop. Erin states that " his insightful blog details the process by which he captures these fascinating ethereal macro images. He often shoots on a dark black sweater (which explains the hair-like bits in the dark photos), but I found it particularly fascinating how he achieves the look of the colored images with the snowflakes seemingly floating in space. (You’ll never believe what a plate of glass, a flashlight with a plastic bag to diffuse the light, and allowing the color to creep in from the print on the bags can do. Fascinating!) I would highly recommend a look at his work (and it is for sale as well in many printed items.)" I found these photos absolutely incredible.  These lit...

Pretty Palettes November Reveal

Image
It is time for the 'Pretty Palettes" November 2015 reveal!  Erin Prais-Hintz has picked a painting by Henri-Edmond Cross. Impressionist painter Henri-Edmond Cross frequently created landscapes, often with beach-bathing nudes or more mundane scenery of farmers laboring in their fields, it was this painting that really caught Erin's eye. At first it appears to be just a simplistic color gradation. But upon further inspection, you can see the mountains of the isles in the distance, and notice the shimmering golden waves. So our Pretty Palette for November should take us away on a vacation of mind, body and spirit, filled with the ocean tones of sand, surf and sky. This painting is called  Îles d’Or and really captures the beauty of this seaside landscape. I hope you will escape along with us!  My Bead Gallery® Palette 10393263 purple glass 6/0 seed beads 10464240 synthetic lapis stone beads 6mm 10265206 blue dyed quartzite chips 10322661 st...
