Pretty Palettes - August Reveal

Image
It is time for the 'Pretty Palettes" August 2015 reveal!    Erin Prais-Hintz has picked the  Cappadocia area in Turkey.  She reports that "It is known for its unique moon-like topography, straight out of a fantasy novel. This ancient landscape consists of underground cities, cave churches and houses carved in the rocks. A millennia ago, people realized they could utilize the soft stone formations to seek shelter underground for a fascinating troglodyte-style architectural phenomenon. The actual landscape is eroded from wind and rain formed from layers of volcanic ash called tuff. Today, the Goreme National Park in Cappadocia, Turkey has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site ."   I love this landscape and was inspired by chimneys shown in the 2nd photograph.  Wouldn't you love to vacation at the Goreme National Park? The Bead Gallery® beads I chose for this months "Pretty Palettes" are:  Bead Gallery® white howlite 1...

Pretty Palettes May Reveal

Image
Pretty Palettes May Reveal Time for the "Pretty Palettes" reveal!  Erin Prais-Hint z color palette for the month of May was inspired by this beautiful Scandinavian fabric design with a fun mix of neutrals and a pop of reddish-orange. It is from a company called Almedahls that was produced originally in the 1950s. I think my biggest challenge as a designer is mixing colors.  When I create a design for "Pretty Palettes" I am inspired by the the colors of the palette, not the actual photo.  Personally I do not look at photo and think "modern, romantic, etc" for me it is all about the color.  I know I can create any style of jewelry.  I would rather flex my color muscles.  This was a challenging palette for me.  I have to admit, the first necklace I created made me cringe (and it is not pictured).  So I went to my bead stash grabbing black and orange hued beads with gold chain.  Below is my design... The neckl...

Pretty Palettes Reveal - April

Image
Pretty Palettes April Reveal Time for the "Pretty Palettes" reveal!  Erin Prais-Hintz color palette for the month of April was inspired by Design Seeds "Lavender Field". The rich jewel tones captured in this lovely lavender field are absolutely breathtaking.  The color palette is amazing this month. My bead selection consisted of ceramic blue, shell bright green, stone green and a purple mixed dyed quartzite. Here is my inspired jewelry design.  I decided to use a gold tone chain because I wanted a warmer look. Some of my beads have larger holes so I used a crimp bead so the head pin would not slide off. February Pretty Pallet Reveal

Image
It's the last Wednesday of the month and you know what that means... Pretty Palette reveal.  Erin Prais-Hintz color palette for the month of February was inspired by this amazing photo. The bead palette that I have chosen for this month is pretty close to the color combination of the scene above.  Bead Gallery® Beads give you a wide array of colors and textures to choose from. My design this month can be worn as a wrap bracelet or double as a necklace.  The closure is macrame with a cute button. This bracelet wraps around your wrist 7 times.
