Fun in the sun at CHA

On Monday, I attended the CHA Winter Convention at the Anaheim Convention Center here in California. Craft exhibitors from around the world came to display their new products. I was looking forward to seeing the Vintaj Natural Brass Company. Vintaj is a fabulous line of brass components for jewelry making and scrap booking. It was a treat to meet Jess Italia Lincoln (pictured above) and Wendy Mullane. Their booth was incredibly beautiful and creative. Vintaj won the CHA Winter "Exhibiting with Excellence" award and the girls deserved it. Their "make and take" items consisted of brass altered blanks that could be impressed with the Cuttlebug by Provo Craft. After the impression, acrylic paint dabbers and alcohol inks from Ranger were applied. The result is a beautiful rainbow of color that has a antiqued feel. Of course you could also stamp a word or rivet a butterfly on to your piece. It was a truly inspiring booth! I plan to make my son Garrett's class auction project using these same techniques! I will post pictures of this project when we begin. Please visit Vintaj at www.Vintaj.com for wonderful project ideas!

Sara Hardin the "Soft Flex girl" and Jamie Hogsett were manning the Soft Flex booth. Both designers were showing off their latest designs with the new color "Trios" wire. Wow, this beading wire is not meant to be hidden by beads. The colored wire can be used in the design or to dangle accent beads. I can't wait to play with this new wire. I discussed with Jamie my lack of faith in my crimps. I am always afraid that the necklace or bracelet will come apart. She gave me a great tip "always use crimp beads with no seams". Check out Sara's blog at www.softflexgirl.blogspot.com and Jamie's blog www.Jamiehogsett.com/blog or go to www.softflexcompany.com for more information.
